Life Transitions Therapy

Continuity Therapy

Because sometimes the important stuff happens between sessions.

Therapy usually happens once a week—or every other week. Life doesn't.

A difficult conversation happens. Something we've been talking about suddenly makes sense. An old pattern shows up in real time. Or you find yourself thinking, I wish I could talk with my therapist about this now, while it's actually happening.

That's the idea behind Continuity Therapy.

It offers a way to maintain the thread of our work between appointments through limited, secure written communication.

Two Ways to Work Together

Standard Therapy

Weekly or biweekly video sessions.

Our therapeutic work takes place primarily during our scheduled appointments. Communication between sessions is limited to scheduling and administrative matters.

Continuity Therapy

Weekly or biweekly video sessions, plus secure therapeutic correspondence between appointments.

You can write to me about something that happened, a realization you've had, something you're struggling with, or a thought you simply don't want to lose before we meet again.

Continuity Therapy includes up to two therapeutic email exchanges per week, with responses generally within one business day.

Sometimes you may want my thoughts. Other times, you may simply want me to know what's happening so we can return to it when we meet.

The goal isn't therapy on demand. It's continuity—the opportunity to stay connected to the work we're doing together as life unfolds between sessions.

Continuity Therapy is available to private-pay clients. We can talk about whether this approach might be a good fit for you during an initial consultation.

Between-session correspondence is not monitored continuously and is not intended for emergencies or crisis situations.

Ways to Begin

You don't need to decide how you'd like to work together before we meet.

If you're ready to begin, schedule an initial therapy session. We'll use that first meeting to get to know one another and decide whether Standard Therapy or one of the Continuity Therapy options feels like the best fit.
